Far away in the mythical land of Denmark, armed with a laptop, years of musical influence and a bucket load of ideas and imagination, Carl Loader aka CELO brings a deep EP with techno influences and hints of classic electronic music. CELO returns to Sub-Label Recordings Yellow, providing a spectacular EP for the record labels 50th release.
Opening with 20-48, CELO shows his expanding journey into half time DnB, showing the heavy influences from his favourite era of dance music, the mid and late 90's. The track features heavy sub pressure, slotting in perfectly between progressive half time drums. Flurries of fast drum fills blend with layers of classic breaks, where clean drums fire the track along towards a full on drum & bass climax.
Secondly we have Arrival. This track brings Influences of Ed Rush & Optical with the clinical bass stabs and twisting reese fills. CELO Brings an unrivaled delivery of dark atmospherics morphed between the straight up knife edge precision beats.
Closing the first half of the EP is B- Field. Background atmospherics made using a B Field recorder from an abandoned warehouse set the scene for this darker twist. The background world, unseen but not unheard, an exploration of found sound intertwined with the rich CELO sounds. Atmospherics throughout the track keep the tension high and full of energy.
With three remixes from aardonyx, Insideman and Echo Motion, this drum n bass celebration and richly diverse set of tracks makes a standout release full of dark, menacing tones all wrapped in deep rich atmospherics from the first second to the last tail.
