Dusk
We are pleased to welcome Voodrop to Sub-Label Yellow with 'Dusk'. This is a brilliant collection of moody drum and bass tracks that show the diversity and forward thinking of this producer from Portugal.
To start with, the title track of the EP, Dusk, is rich with drive and euphoria. This is an energetic track full of fizzy bass sounds, crisp drums and playful arpeggiators. The combination gives us an impressive track to open the release with, while at the same time showing us one direction of the Voodrop productions.
Second we have Blue Sax. A more soulful experimentation of the drum and bass style, with the rich sax melody dancing to the beat. Built up pad layered synths and melodic hooks compliment the sax throughout. With a nod to the classic sounds of London Elektricity, this track really gives us an understanding of the Voodrop influences and direction.
Lastly, the EP finishes with Ldn. A darker track that still holds true to the Voodrop sound. The metallic synth layers give a shimmer to the track which adds to the depth of the bass. Straight away, this is a more minimal track and collection of sounds that yet again shows us the talents of the productions.
