With his debut release on Sub-Label Black, Jack Bacon brings his original style of Techno with the "Dark Matter EP".
This is a wonderfully rich soundscape of tones and synths that weave in and out of the precise and groove based drums. The three track EP showcases a developing producer making a name for himself with his own take on the Techno genre blended through progressive styles.
The EP opens with "Icarus", a dark and punchy track that slices through the space and ambience created around the synth work. This is a percussive driven track that is continuously driving forward, with an infectious pulse and groove.
Following on with "Aeris", a more subdued and experimental track that really shows the depth of Jack's production skills. The rich synth parts hold the track together while the sparsity of the drums create a deeper sense of progression throughout the track.
The EP closes with "Orbis", again with a fantastic sound palette that gives the rich tones of the synths a space of their own around the strong bass tone and deep drum grooves. A brilliant way to close a debut EP for the label.
